Neandertal valley is the place where workers digging for gypsum discovered bones from prehistoric humans, thereafter called Neandertaler. A museum has been built at this place which we will visit after a bus coach ride of approximately one hour. We will enjoy a guided tour through the exhibition with time to explore the museum and the historic site by yourself. We will return to Köln in the early afternoon.

Augustusburg Brühl

Meeting point: 10:00 am

We will go to the palace of Augustusburg, which is a UNESCO cultural heritage site, by a 15 minute train ride from the conference site. It used to be a palace of the German government and it is of historic interest. We will enjoy a guided tour of the palace and depending on the weather conditions it will be very pleasant to explore the gardens of the Palace on our own.

Afterwards there is time to visit the small city of Brühl where you can enjoy a late lunch. Depending on your interest, next to the palaces there is the Max-Ernst museum which is worth a visit. Again the afternoon is free for your own plans and you can easily return to Köln by train or tram. We will provide you with public transportation tickets.
Places which you may want to explore on your own during your time in Köln.
